SOLO XXX

"I must say, after having assisted Luana`s few rehearsals, as a dramatist and as well as a choreographer, I wasn't completely believing Luana could have shown something done at the end, but rather a work in progress. In her rehearsal she was mindful, full of scripts and not really putting her thoughts in words and even less in movements. I saw she was struggling to search for the point to achieve and she was turning and turning in circles, making herself questions, reading philosophic and psychology books.

I couldn't believe a 21 years old woman could deepen so much into the creation. Sure, Luana is a great dancer and a very special one, she is peculiar in her detailed way of dancing and choosing movements, I was expecting what I have always been experiencing from these dancers: a pure body creation.

In the last rehearsal, Luana still had no sound track nor titles, she did not care of all the forms. She told me to put any track as far as it was instrumental and not lyric, she asked for a black panel and a mirror, she has chosen two basic lights but those where perfectly on the point, warm and intimate.

And there she was, dressed in her gloves, in a Venus statue shaped, embodying her mind blowing inner wonder. Moving with those Forsythe kind of language, on that stage where she could keep no longer the vests of a student, with formal and codified dance language, her soul came out and shocked the audience, her fire was as high as the intensity of her concept. Turning in circles, maybe that was, definitely on the point, leaving the audience breathless showing a strong mature dancer who was dominating the stage.

I have learned from Luana, this is my review about this piece; I must thank her for having thought me a lot this evening." - E. Kaiel, Choreographer -
